    Dr. Ashley Floyd is a Winder-born music teacher and composer. As an educator, he has taught high school and middle school band for over eight years in Elbert County, Georgia as well as Houston, Texas. As a teacher, his concert, jazz, and marching ensembles have consistently earned Superior and Excellent ratings at judged events. As a composer, his music has made its way to concert halls across the United States and Europe including recent performances at the World Saxophone Congress, the Charlotte New Music Festival, and the SoundNOW Festival. His piece Glitch, a concertino for saxophone and wind band, has been named a finalist for the 2019-20 American Prize.

    Floyd earned his DMA in music education at the University of Georgia and holds degrees in composition from Brandeis University (MFA) and the University of Georgia (BMus).

    He lives in Athens with his wife Rebecca and son David. He can be bribed with Dr. Pepper.
