Save the Date: Class of 2027 Graduation

Dear Rising Seniors and Families, 

I hope you are all enjoying your summer break so far. While we are still two months away from the start of the next school year, I wanted to share an important update regarding graduation.  

After careful consideration to ensure a safe and enjoyable ceremony, the WBHS Class of 2027 will be the first to be celebrated at Akins Ford Arena. While the ceremony setting may be different, what makes graduation special is the accomplishment being celebrated. Our goal is to create an experience that honors our past while focusing on our students’ bright futures and ensuring a safe and memorable celebration for every GG graduate. 

We plan to replicate the 50-yard line at Akins Ford Arena to ensure the special moment remains part of our graduation experience. I know how meaningful that moment is to our school community, and we will work with our student leaders on ways to carry our GG pride with us. 

In addition, when our Seniors take their final walk through the halls of WBHS, we will once again conclude at the football stadium, where graduates can celebrate and take photos with family and friends on the field.  

Thank you for your support as we look forward to an incredible senior year, celebrating the Class of 2027 and all they will accomplish.

WHY AKINS FORD ARENA? 

There are several reasons for the ceremony to be held at Akins Ford Arena: 

• Safety:
  There are safety measures such as weapons detectors and screeners on staff, along with medical personnel, who are trained to respond in a large-crowd setting.
• Climate-controlled:
  We won’t have to worry about inclement weather changing the dates or dampening the day. This also helps ensure safety to prevent heat-related illnesses.
• Space:
  Due to our increasing class sizes, our school facilities are not able to safely accommodate the number of people who want to enjoy the ceremony. There will be no need for tickets.
• Audio/Video Enhancements:
  Your graduates will be featured on the arena's large screens as they receive their diplomas, ensuring all seats will havea great viewof the important moment.
