Senior Info. Night Presentation

(Class of 2027 Post-Secondary Handbook)

In the fall, remember the PROBE College Fair happens at WBHS on September 8th from 9-11am in the cafeteria. Juniors and Seniors will be called at the designated times. Make sure you register for the event in advisement or GA PROBE College Fair Registration.

The month of November in Georgia is Apply to College Month. Our Apply to College Week is November 9-13 that month. There will be many opportunities for seniors to get assistance with applying to colleges, learning about opportunities, and understanding more about financial aid.

To sign up for a college entrance exam, visit their site and create an account - ACT or SAT. We recommend taking an official version ASAP if 4-year college is your next step after high school. Contact your school counselor if you qualify for a fee waiver (receive free or reduced lunch) for ACT/SAT. If you need to complete the school benefit/Free and Reduced Lunch Form click this link and scroll down.

For financial aid, remember that your grade point average (GPA) is still under construction. Do your best to improve it with each semester you have remaining. Many scholarship opportunities will look at your GPA to determine eligibility for scholarships like the HOPE program in Georgia - HOPE and Zell Miller grants and scholarships. You can monitor your own HOPE GPA by creating an account with Ga Futures.

Financial Aid Night will be November 9 at 6pm in the cafeteria. We'll hear from financial aid experts about scholarships, grants and loans to assist students and families in paying for technical schools, colleges and universities. WBHS will host a FAFSA Completion Night during the beginning of next semester - TBD January/February 2027.

ASVAB Testing will be September 16, please listen to announcements and check your school email on how to register.

Lastly, YouScience - Ever ask, “Why am I learning this?” and “What do I want to be when I grow up?” These assessments are meant to connect student's natural talents, skills, and knowledge with in-demand education pathways and careers. 

  •  Get your results or finish your exam by signing on your student portal on a laptop or desktop. 
  • Then, click MORE on the bottom, left toolbar. 
  • Then, click SLDS PORTAL near the top, right. 
  • Then, click MY CAREER PLAN. 
  • Then, click GO TO YOUSCIENCE.
